John Costello runs the veteran’s rights project at Legal Assistance Foundation. He gives an introduction of overview of the Service Members Civil Relief Act. He highlights what protections the act provides for your clients who are in the military as well as their families who may seek legal services. The Act provides a multitude of protections for the soldier and their family; there are caps on interest rates, releases from contractual obligations, and stays on legal proceedings just to name a few. John tells you what you need to know about this Act to best make use of it for your clients.
