Demanding interactions with difficult clients are a significant cause of burnout for legal aid advocates. While the impact of stressful legal problems on clients comes with the territory, the unreasonable demands, lack of cooperation, or anger of some clients can challenge your efforts to provide effective representation. This session will identify why some clients act out, explore an attorneys’ professional responsibilities toward clients who are difficult, and provide practical techniques and tips for effectively working with difficult clients.
